Society History

  • On December 5, 1935, the Decree of the Central Committee of the Unions of Railways and the People's Commissar of Railways approved the Charter of the new sports society, and at the same time the political department of the NKPS together with the Lokomotiv organizing bureau decided to make January 12, 1936, the day the society was opened. The very first message about the creation of society appeared on November 3, 1935 on the pages of the newspaper Krasny Sport. It stated that "a single Voluntary Sports Society of Railway Workers" Lokomotiv "is being created on the railway transport, the purpose of which is the daily work to improve the health of railway workers and their families."
  • Over the past two decades, society has undergone a number of structural changes in connection with the unification of trade union Voluntary Sports Societies (DLS) in 1987 , the collapse of the USSR, new legislation and the working conditions of railway transport.
  • In its current form, RFSO Lokomotiv was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation on April 23, 1999 . RFSO Lokomotiv unites Lokomotiv physical education and sports clubs of railway enterprises, nodes, departments, railways, educational institutions, as well as metro and transport builders. The main objective of the society is the introduction of physical culture and sports in the everyday life of railway workers, transport builders and members of their families, students of railway schools, secondary and higher educational institutions

Company Management

The Society Conference elects the Central Council and the Board.

From 2006 to 2010 , the chairman of the company was the four-time Olympic champion Alexander Popov , a member of the IOC , a member of the executive committee of the ROC .

Since 2010 , the company was headed by four-time Olympic champion Alexander Popov. Since 2011 , Ilya Vdovin has been the head of the company as an executive director; since February 2016 , he has been the chairman of the RFSO Lokomotiv. Along with this, since 2018, Yuri Nagornykh was appointed Chairman of the Board of RFSO Lokomotiv, Advisor to the Director General of Russian Railways [1] .

Membership in Sports Associations

  • The company is a collective member of a number of Russian and international organizations:
    • Confederation of Sports Organizations of Russia (CRRF)
    • National Youth League of Russia (NML)
    • International Confederation of Sports Organizations (IKSO)
    • Association of sports clubs "Locomotive" (uniting athletes, railway workers of the CIS)
    • Since 1957, Lokomotiv is a member of the International Sports Union of Railway Workers.

Athlete Achievements

  • Lokomotiv athletes became champions of the Olympic Games over 50 times, world and Europe over 200 times. At the XXVII Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, 17 railway athletes played for the Russian Olympic team. They won 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
  • At the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, the railroad workers brought three gold and two silver medals to the piggy bank of the Russian national team.
  • In 2002 , 2004 and 2018, the Lokomotiv football team ( Moscow ) took first place in the Russian Championship.
  • Lokomotiv Yaroslavl is the Russian ice hockey champion in 2002 and 2003.
  • Boris Spassky is the 10th world chess champion (1969–1972) [3] [4] [5] .
