Garliava ( lit. Garliava , outdated. Russian. Godlevo ) - a city in the Kaunas region of Lithuania . Garliava also has the status of eldership ( lit. Garliavos seniūnija ) and is the administrative center of Garliav county county ( lit. Garliavos apylinkių seniūnija ).

Geography
It is located 10 km south of Kaunas and 1.5 km from the Garliava railway station on the Kaunas - Kaliningrad line . In fact, Garliava is a suburb of Kaunas.

Title
The original form of the name Godlevo is due to the last name of the owner of Godlevsky.
Coat of arms
The emblem was approved in 1994 . It depicts a branch with three oak leaves.
History
The settlement began to be formed at the beginning of the 19th century in the estate of the landowner Godlevsky near the paved highway. The Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity ( 1809 ) and the Lutheran Church ( 1814 - 1816 ) were built at his expense. In the period between the two world wars, the volost center ( lit. valsčiaus centras ). Most of the population were Jews; most destroyed during World War II . In the summer of 1944 the synagogue was burned, the Lutheran church was destroyed.

A post office, a bus station, a church, a library, two museums (a museum of resistance in a gymnasium and a local history museum in a secondary school), a hotel, a motel, a hospital, a pharmacy, a repair and mechanical plant, and knitwear production.
