Yuraktau ( Bashk. Yurktau - “heart-mountain” ) is a shihan , a lonely mountain in the Sterlitamak district of Bashkortostan . Monument of nature (1985). The rest of the reef , Lower Permian (Late Paleozoic ) reef massif, formed over 230 million years ago in the tropical sea .

Physico-geographical characteristics
Length - 1 km, width 850 m, height - above the Belaya River - 220 m, above soil level - 200 m, absolute height above sea level - 338 m. [1]
It has a conical shape. Slopes - 20-30 degrees, but do not form rocky ledges. The lower part is covered with scree. At the base of the northern slope of the mountain there are springs, one with sulphurous water.
At the foot of Yuraktau is located Lake Moksha [2] .
History
In 1707, at the foot of Yuraktau, a battle took place between the rebel Bashkirs led by Kusum Tyulekeyev , who united the Ufa Bashkirs, Mishars , Tatars , Chuvashs , Cheremis ) and government troops (the Khokhlov detachment of nine hundred soldiers and seven hundred horsemen from Kazan under the command of Aristov, also joined loyal to the government of the Bashkirs). The fighting lasted about ten days and ended in victory for the rebels. About four hundred soldiers were captured, the rest were destroyed. Khokhlov fled to Tabyn [3] .
