Fighting

Civil War in the South of Russia

During 1919, she fought with the Armed Forces of the South of Russia . In March - April, she fought to seize the Donbass, occupied the Yuzovka, Debaltseve region and reached the approaches to Rostov on the Don and Taganrog. In May - June 1919 she retreated to the North, conducting defensive battles. As part of the Group of Forces, V. I. Selivacheva participated in the unsuccessful August counterattack of the Southern Front in 1919 (August-September). In September - October 1919, it retreated under the pressure of the enemy to Valuyki , Kursk , Livny , Oryol . Then, the Oryol-Kromsk operation (October − November 1919) successfully participated, during which it occupied Maloarkhangelsk and Kursk. In November 1919 - January 1920 participated in the battles for Donbass and Mariupol . On January 10, 1920, its formations and units reached the coast of the Sea of ​​Azov, cutting off the left flank of the All-Union Socialist Republic of Ukraine ( Troops of the Novorossiysk and Kiev regions ) from the main forces. In February - May 1920, acting in the Perekop direction, she tried to take control of the Crimea and carried out military operations against the troops of the Crimea defending General Slashchev , but was unsuccessful.

In the summer of 1920, under the pressure of the Russian army, Wrangel was forced to retreat to Northern Tavria. In July 1920, she waged defensive battles and did not allow the enemy to exit to the Aleksandrovsk - Pologi - Berdyansk railway. In August − September 1920, Kakhovsky bridgehead was held. Participated in the counteroffensive of the Southern Front in Northern Tavria (October 1920) and the Perekop-Chongar Operation (November 1920) (being in the reserve of the front). November 12, 1920 disbanded. The management of the 13th Army merged with the control of the 4th Army of the Red Army .

Polish campaign of the Red Army

In September 1939, during the invasion of Poland, the Odessa Army Group was renamed the 13th Army. [3]

The 13th Army was formed during the Soviet-Finnish War of 1939-40 on the basis of the operational group of Commander V. D. Grendal on December 25, 1939 . At the end of the war, disbanded.

In World War II

Once again, as part of the Red Army, the 13th Army was formed in May 1941 and operated until it was disbanded after the Victory in 1945.
