Weekly Demoscope

Demoscope Weekly is a demographic electronic magazine published twice a month in Russian in Russia , the CIS and Baltic countries . He publishes informational analytical materials on the demographic situation , mortality , fertility , migration , health , family , employment , level and lifestyle of the population in Russia and around the world [2] . It is characterized by fast-growing citation, including in non-Russian-language resources, mainly on demographic, sociological, economic, historical, ethnic themes [3] .

Description

The magazine “Demoscope Weekly” contains more than fifty analytical, thematic and news sections, as well as a detailed archive and database of population censuses, demographic indicators for Russian regions, countries of the former USSR , and industrialized countries of the world.

Electronic issues of the magazine first appeared in 2001 on the basis of the magazine "Population and Society." Until 2007, both the paper newsletter and its electronic version were published by the Center for Demography and Human Ecology of the Institute for Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences . Currently, the main part in the issue of the magazine is taken by the staff of the Institute of Demography of the Higher School of Economics .

Employees of several research institutes of Russia and the CIS countries are directly involved in the work on the journal.

The chief editor of the magazine is Anatoly Vishnevsky .

Citation

The citation of the Russian-speaking Demoscope is constantly increasing, including on Wikipedia, both in the Russian-language section and in non-Russian language sections. As of January 1, 2017 , the leaders in citation for Demoscope here were Russian (4,700 articles), English (4,200), Ukrainian (321), Finnish (233), German (137), Japanese (78), French (78) , Polish (49), Romanian (43) Wikipedia [3] .
