History

Since its founding in 1915, Livorno has played in the top division of the Italian Championship. In the 1919/20 season, the team won silver medals, losing in the final to Milan Inter . After the formation of Serie A in 1929, Livorno remained one of the leading clubs in Italy, but the team managed to repeat its success in 1920 only in the 1942/43 season, when Livorno lost only to the invincible Torino at that time. After World War II, the club performed extremely unsuccessfully and in 1949 left Serie A. For the next decades, the club mainly spent in Serie C.

In 1991, Livorno was stripped of its professional status. However, in fact, the newly created club took only 13 years to overcome the way from the sixth division to Serie A. In its first season, after a long break, Livorno took the 9th place in the elite, and the club's striker Cristiano Lucarelli became the top scorer. In the 2005/06 season, the team managed to repeat their achievement of the previous season. Moreover, thanks to the disqualification of Juventus , Milan and Lazio , Livorno got the right to play in the UEFA Cup , where it reached the 1/16 finals.

On April 14, 2012, in an away match of the 35th round of Series B against Pescara (0: 2), Livorno player Piermario Morozini was killed [1] . This happened in the first half at the 31 minute of the game, he lost consciousness and fell on the lawn and could not stand up on his own [1] . Morosini was rented in winter 2012 from Udinese . In memory of Morozini, "Livorno" for life assigned him 25 number, under which he played.

According to the results of the 2011/12 season, Livorno took a place in the second half of the standings. The team from Tuscany was content with only 17th line, miraculously avoiding butt matches for the right to remain in Serie B.
