Biography

He studied at the Moscow Theological Seminary , graduated from the Law Faculty of Moscow University with a degree of candidate rights (1858).

At the end of the course, for some time he worked under the supervision of Leontyev with extracts and translations from English periodicals, mainly from The Times newspaper . He was an employee of the Moscow Gazette and the Modern Chronicle , publishing articles on Russian current legislation in them. In 1862, he was assigned to the service of the judicial department to the office of the Moscow Provincial Prosecutor, and then for two years, he was a special assignment officer under the Moscow governor.

At the opening of new judicial institutions in 1866 he was a member of the Kaluga District Court, then he was the prosecutor of the Smolensk District Court, a fellow prosecutor of the Moscow Court of Justice. In 1886-1894 - Senior Chairman of the Kiev Judicial Chamber. In 1888 he was appointed a member of the consultation at the Ministry of Justice established. In 1894-1904 - senior chairman of the Moscow Judicial Chamber. Since 1904 - a senator. Since January 1, 1879 - a valid state adviser .

The author of the Collection of Extracts from Cassation Decisions in Criminal Matters, which has been published since 1869 and has been published in several editions.

A large landowner, owned about 10 thousand acres in the Voronezh, Ryazan, Tula provinces.

He died in the rank of Privy Councilor. He was buried in Kaluga .

Daughter - Anna Alexandrovna, was married the first marriage to Alexander Alexandrovich Drentelnom

Daughter - Ekaterina Alexandrovna, was married to Alexei Nikolayevich Khvostov , who in 1915-1916 was the Minister of the Interior.
