Son of Praskovya Aleksandrovna Osipova , Pushkin’s neighbor and close friend, brother of Eupraxia (Zizi) Wulf, Baroness Vrevskaya and Anna Nikolaevna Wulf , cousin of A.P. Kern . Since 1819, Wulf lived in Dorpat , studied in military affairs in the physics and mathematics department of the University of Dorpat in 1822-1826. At university, he became friends with Yazykov, who dedicated nine poems to him. During his vacations in his native Trigorskoye, Wulf regularly met with Pushkin, who was exiled to neighboring Mikhailovsky . In 1825, Pushkin decided to flee abroad, posing as a servant of Wolfe. Together with a friend, Pushkin discussed the emerging scenes of Boris Godunov and the chapter of Eugene Onegin, there was a roll call between Wulf’s diary and Pushkin’s journalism (note "On Public Education"). In 1826, Wulf brought to meet Pushkin and his university friend Yazykov, which is captured in several poems of both. In the sketch “On Cholera,” Pushkin gives the following characterization to Wulf:

At the end of 1826, I often saw one Derpt student (now he is a hussar officer and exchanged his German books, his beer, his young fights for a bay horse and Polish mud). He knew a lot about what they learn at universities, while you and I learned to dance. His conversation was simple and important. He had an idea about everything, awaiting his own verification. He was preoccupied with such objects, which I did not even think of.

After graduating from university, Wulf served for several months in the tax department in St. Petersburg , and then, as Pushkin writes, he entered the Hussars of the Prince of Oran regiment; military officer of the Russo-Turkish war of 1828-1829 and the campaign against the Polish uprising of 1830 . Upon his retirement, Captain Wulf in 1833 settled in his native Trigorsky and was engaged in housekeeping there until the end of his life; he never got a family. The peasants recalled him as a "strict master." He was buried in the city of Voronich near the altar of the Church of St. George the Victorious (the church is currently restored).

The main work of Wolfe - “The Diaries of 1827-1842”, published partially in 1915 [1] and completely in 1929, they include memoirs, critical journalistic fragments. In addition to literary and intellectual characteristics, a significant role in the diary is played by the description of the love affairs of the author, Pushkin, Yazykov and the numerous relatives of Wolfe conveyed in the detached tone of an experienced don Juan - adventures, which are for the most part humorous, playful, sometimes innocent, far from chaste. The publication of Wulf’s unique diary on the subject opened for researchers “the love life of the Pushkin era” (the title of the introductory article by P. E. Shchegolev ). Some of Wulf's memoirs were put into scientific circulation even earlier by M.I. Semevsky , who personally communicated with him in 1866.
