In 1950 - 1968 - the chief conductor of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater , since 1957 he also directed the opera class of the Novosibirsk Conservatory . As the Novosibirsk journalist Galina Motovilova recalls,
M. Buchbinder has become for me the standard conductor. Not the last role was played by his sonorous surname. I just listened to her: Bukh-bin-der. And the maestro’s whole appearance coincided with my fantasies: a solid age, easy gait, noble posture and even small stature, it seems to me that it was specifically provided that during the performance the conductor should not obstruct the action taking place on the stage [2] .
