Nikolai Feliksovich Uskov (born August 25, 1970 , Moscow ) is a Russian historian - a medievalist and journalist , candidate of historical sciences . One of the authors of the Orthodox Encyclopedia and the Great Russian Encyclopedia . In 2003-2012, he was the chief editor of the Russian version of GQ . In 2016-2018, he headed the Russian version of Forbes magazine .

Biography
Born in a family of doctors. Father - a psychiatrist , an employee of the Institute of Biomedical Problems , now lives with his second wife - Tatyana Loskutova - in the United States . Mother is a rheumatologist in a Moscow hospital.
In high school, he became interested in painting and studied at the Moscow Children's Art School No. 2. In 1987, he entered the history department of Moscow State University .
In 1999, as a senior lecturer in the Department of Middle Ages History at Moscow State University, he defended a dissertation at the Faculty of History for the degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences on the topic “ Monasticism and Monastic Reforms in Early Medieval Germany ” [1] [2] . Received the position of assistant professor .
In 2000, Nikolai Uskov left the university at the Independent Media publishing house. He edited the portal of the publishing house Estart.ru, since 2001 - Men's Health magazine of the same publishing house. In 2002 he became the editor-in-chief of this magazine [3]
In 2003, he resigned as editor-in-chief of the Russian version of the American magazine GQ (Gentlemen's Quarterly) at Condé Nast .
In 2012, he left GQ to head Mikhail Prokhorov 's media group Live! The Live! Media group included the Snob , F5, Russian Pioneer print media, the Live TV cable channel, and snob.ru and f5.ru sites [4] . At the beginning of 2013, the group broke up, and Uskov became the leader of Snob.
From January 2016 to June 9, 2018, he headed the Russian edition of Forbes magazine . He was dismissed by the decision of the owner; dissatisfaction with the quality of Uskov’s work and his repeated participation in “third-party events of other brands” were cited as the reasons for dismissal [5] . According to Uskov himself, the real reason for his dismissal was the conflict between him and the owner of the publication, Alexander Fedotov [6] .
After the change of ownership of the Russian Forbes magazine, Uskov is supposed to return to the magazine as an editorial director. Instead of Alexander Fedotov, the owner was businessman Magomed Musaev [7] [8] .
Family
In 1992, he married Natalya (who later became Natalya Peskova).
Literary and journalistic activities
In 2001, he published a monograph, Christianity and Monasticism in Western Europe of the Early Middle Ages, based on his dissertation at the publishing house Aleteya in St. Petersburg [9] .
On November 6, 2008, in the Eksmo publishing house, in the series “Fashion Books by the Chief Editor of GQ Magazine Nikolay Uskov,” the first detective of Uskov, “Winter Death Collection. Fashion Detective ” [10] .
In February 2011, the same publishing house published a new detective, Nikolai Uskov, entitled "The Seven Angels", which continues to tell the story of the adventure of a hero familiar to readers from the first book - Innocent Alekhine, editor-in-chief of the men's magazine "Gentleman".
Uskov is credited with neologism “Putin's glamor” [11] .
