Children of the Corn is a story by American writer Stephen King , first published in the March 2005 issue of Penthouse Magazine. In 1978 he entered the collection Night Shift . The story is included in the storybook "Stephen King Goes to the Cinema."

Content
Story
A husband and wife traveling by car turn off the freeway to shorten the path and unexpectedly knock a young man down. Hurrying to take him to the nearest city, the couple find themselves in a completely abandoned place, surrounded by endless fields of corn . And, as it turns out, corn is the refuge of the unfriendly inhabitants of these places. A cruel cult operates in the city, according to which all young men and women who have reached a certain age are to be sacrificed to the One who bypasses the ranks .
Films
In 1983, based on the story, a short film “Raven Apostles” was shot.
The story served as the basis for the creation of a series of horror films under the general title "Children of the Corn . " The first film, entitled Children of the Corn, was released in 1984, followed by sequels in 1992 , 1994 , 1996 , 1998 , 1999 , 2001, and 2011 .
September 26, 2009 on the American channel Syfy premiered the television film "Children of the Corn . " [1] The script for this film adaptation was written by the director of the television movie Donald Borchers and Stephen King. [2]
