Biography

Father Grigory Abramovich Podolny - chess trainer, head of the Moscow House of Pioneers. Mother Miriam (Rimma) Borisovna Benenson - Head of the Gorky Central Library and Public Library.

He graduated from the Moscow State Historical and Archival Institute with a degree in ethnography .

The first publication of Podolny refers to 1956.

In 1962 he published his first sci-fi story - "Navigation is impossible." Later he wrote alternative historical, humorous and socio-fantastic stories and novels, which were compiled by the author's collections “The Quarter of Genius” (1970) and “Easy Hand” (1990).

He also wrote dozens of books on various fields of science - from ethnography to theoretical physics . He has published many essays and notes in the journal “ Knowledge is Power ” and in other popular science periodicals.

For more than twenty years, he headed the science department of the journal Knowledge is Power, which in the 1960s and 1970s, largely due to his enthusiasm, became one of the “centers of communication” of Russian science fiction writers. In the journal itself, Podolny and his colleagues created the headings “Academy of Funny Sciences”, which published various fantastic rallies, and the “Contact Commission”, which attempted to scientifically analyze all kinds of evidence about aliens visiting the Earth, about the “traces” of these visits , as well as cases all kinds of " extrasensory abilities ."

He was buried at Pokrovsky cemetery [2] .
