Church of St. Bartholomew (Königssee)

The Church of St. Bartholomew on Königssee ( German: St. Bartholomä ) is a Catholic pilgrimage chapel on the west coast of Königssee , on the Hirschau Peninsula. It can be reached only by water or by a long walking march. The chapel was laid back in the XII century. In the XVII century it was decorated in the Baroque style . Saint Bartholomew was considered the patron saint of shepherds and mowers. The chapel has two domes of different sizes in the form of bulbs painted in red. In plan, the church is similar to the Salzburg Cathedral . The interior of the church is decorated with stucco work by the Salzburg artist Joseph Schmidt and choirs from three half-domes, altars in separate half-domes are dedicated to St. Bartholomew, St. Katarina and St. Jacob, respectively.
