Biography
Born in 1739 . She studied at the dance school of Lande , a former teacher at the land gentry corps in the reign of Anna Ioannovna . Since 1737, along with other students of Lande, she took part in the corps de ballet of the court choreographer Fusano.
In 1739, when Fossano fell out of favor with Biron and was fired by him, Lande arranged a Russian ballet at court; in it, Avdotya, together with Aksinya Sergeeva and Elisaveta Zorina, was the first dancer who, as they said then, was "applauded by throwing purses." Avdotya used the techniques of Italian dancers Giulia Fusano and Tonina (Antonina) Constantini, combining them with her own talent and grace, which made her a favorite of the Empress and the court.
The success of Avdotya elevated Lande to the post of court choreographer and was the reason for the founding of the Russian ballet and theater school , the pupils for whom the empress herself was selected from the children of the court servant.
In 1742, on the occasion of the coronation of Elizabeth , Fusano was again called from Paris , staging in Moscow three new ballets with Avdotya in the title role:
- “Saddened and re-comforted Russia”, in which Avdotya played the mute role of Ruthenia (Russia);
- "The joy of the people about the appearance of Astrea on the Russian horizon and the restoration of the Golden Age";
- "The golden apple at the feast of the gods, or the court of Paris."
She participated in the ballets of Locatelli and Sacco (Orpheus and Eurydice, Foxal in London, Apollo and Daphne).
With the release of the decree on the establishment of the Russian Drama Theater in St. Petersburg dated August 30, 1756, Avdotya was, at the command of the empress, enrolled in the imperial troupe, where, in addition to dancing, she had the role of the second subtretes .
