The Guildhall School of Music and Theater ( English Guildhall School of Music and Drama ) is a British higher educational institution in the field of music and theater. Located in London , founded in 1880 as the Guildhall School of Music . In 1935, a theater institute was added to the conservatory, and the name changed to the present. Since 1977 , the school occupies the current building in the Barbican Center of London.

The conservatory specializes in academic music, including opera , but it also has a jazz faculty. Along with the acting department, the theater institute also has a theater management and stage technology department. On Saturdays, the Conservatory has a specialized children's school ( Junior Guildhall, a specialist Saturday School ) for students aged 4 to 18 years.
