History
The plane had an ardent supporter: Lockheed vice president of military affairs, Mac Short, without whose faith the project would not have been necessary. For three years from 1945 to 1947, he pierced this idea, sometimes directly contrary to the opinions of the military. The triumph of his brainchild was impressive - only Lockheed released 5691 T-33s of various modifications.
Another 656 aircraft were built, which Kanadeir built in Canada and 210 Kawasaki in Japan. Most T-33s have gone abroad to more than 20 countries.
Based on the T-33A, the RT-33A reconnaissance aircraft, the AT-33A attack aircraft , were created. Scouts and T-33 attack aircraft were supplied to the United States primarily by the regimes fighting the internal "enemy." Later, the discontinued T-33A began to be converted into QT-33A flying targets . Production of the T-33 at Lockheed ceased in 1959.
