Pelio (n) ( Greek Πήλιο ) is a mountain in the southeast of Thessaly , between Lake Bebei, Pagasitikos Bay of the Aegean Sea and the Aegean Sea. On this mountain and in its environs many events of Greek myths unfold:
- centaurs live on the mountain, including the wise Chiron .
- south of the mountain, the legendary Iolk , the center of myths about Jason , Pelia , Peleus (their divine wedding with Thetis coped there).
- the beautiful Cyrena lived here until Apollo fell in love and took her from Pelion in a golden chariot drawn by swans to Libya [1] (option: kidnapped when she hunted on a mountain).

The height of the mountain was measured in antiquity by Dykearch , a student of Aristotle . According to Dikearh, it was equal to 1250 steps (according to modern data - 1651 meters).
