Jerespey

Zherespeya is a river in Russia , flows through the territory of the Dukhovschinsky and Smolensky districts of the Smolensk region . Right tributary of the Caspley .

The river is 81 km long, its catchment area is 576 km² [1] . The source is in the village of Basino on the western slope of the Dukhovshchina Upland. Direction of the current: south, then west. It flows into Kasplu near the village of Bor north of the village of Kaspla. A fish hatchery has been created near the mouth. Inflows: right: Bolet ; left: Pine and Lushchenko . The channel is meandering, swampy.

It is believed that the river was part of the river route "from the Varangians to the Greeks . "

On the right bank of Zherespey, 1 km north of the Kislaya village of the Smolensk region, there is a mound group (14 mounds) [2] , where a treasure was found with Arabic silver coins and a Danish semi- brekeate from Hedebyu island (c. 825) [3] [ 4] . 500 meters from Kisloi there is a settlement of the Dnieper-Dvina tribes of the 1st millennium BC. e.
