Eugene Levin ( German: Eugen Leviné , May 23, 1883 , St. Petersburg - June 6, 1919 , Munich ) is a German communist , leader of the Bavarian Soviet Republic .

Biography
Born in St. Petersburg in the family of a Jewish merchant Julius Levine and Rosalia Goldberg. After the early death of his father, at the age of 3 years his mother moved her to Germany, to Wiesbaden , Manheim .
He studied law in Heidelberg . During his studies, he met Russian emigrants and in 1905 participated in revolutionary events in Russia, in the ranks of the Socialist Revolutionary Party .
In 1915 he married Rose Broydo.
Since 1917, he led the activities of a professional revolutionary in Germany.
Levine led the government of the Bavarian Soviet Republic from April 14 to 27, 1919 . After its suppression by the liberators, the Freikorites were shot on June 6, 1919. According to legend, the last words to Levine before the execution was the exclamation "For the world revolution!"
In his interview with “ New Left Review ”, György Lukács put Eugene Levine on a par with Che Guevara and Otto Corvin [3] .
