Short Biography
The son of a merchant. The origin is half Arab and half Tamil . He was the writer of Thomas Stamford Ruffles , taught Malay to Christian missionaries and Indian sepoys , and helped English scholars working on the description of Malaya .
Creativity
The first publisher of a short version of “ Malay genealogies ” ( 1840 ), translator into the Malay language of the Tamil “ Panchatantra ”.
Author of a number of works: “Shair on the fire in Singapore ” (1830), “The history of Abdullah’s voyage (1838),“ Dava-ul-Kulub ”(1883),“ The history of Abdullah ”(1849),“ The history of Abdullah’s voyage to Jeddah ”( neokonch., 1854), "The book on the customs of all Malay Rajas in the whole country" (1837).
In the lively and figurative Malay language of the works, the influence of the literary style of "Malay genealogies" is felt. They preach a rational attitude towards life [2]
