Irina Nikolaevna Prokopenko (born September 8, 1926 , Spas-Klepiki, Ryazan Region ) is a Russian-Ukrainian children's writer, prose writer.
Biography
1946 - graduated from the Moscow Higher School of Polar Workers. She worked at the polar station ( Chukotka ). She taught in Dnepropetrovsk . She worked on television in the editorial office of children's programs, was the director of a writing club. For 26 years, she led the section of children's literature at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Writing Organization.

I.N. Prokopenko is the wife of the Ukrainian poet Gavrila Nikiforovich Prokopenko (1922-2005), known mainly for translating Dmitry Kedrin’s poems into Ukrainian. After his death, she continued correspondence with the daughter of Kedrin S. D. Kedrina .
