Anti- prohibitionism ( lat. Anti- + prohibition , “against” + “prohibition”) - denial of the advisability of prohibitions existing in the legislation, religion or public morality. Anti-prohibitionist rhetoric is characteristic of most left-wing radical movements ( anarchists , hippies ), many religious reformers and sectarians ( Christians in relation to Jewish commandments, Sufis in relation to Islam , Tantrists in relation to Hinduism ), philosophers and writers of the youth direction.
In Europe, the activities of anti-prohibitionists have become an important factor in social development since the late Middle Ages . Over the past 400 years, European civilization has revised and discarded many of the bans that previously seemed unshakable (in particular , a ban on translating the Bible into living languages , a ban on opening dead bodies, homosexuality, higher education for women, pregnancy protection , non-reproductive forms of sex, etc.). Perhaps, to date, there is not a single prohibition law that would not be subjected to anti-prohibitionist analysis: even the commandment “Do not kill” has numerous exceptions, including for people who consider themselves to be believers or who consider themselves to be Christian denominations when it comes to destruction enemy manpower in the course of hostilities , on peacekeeping operations, the destruction of terrorists , the death penalty , euthanasia , the necessary self-defense or the protection of other people and private property (when using legal about civilian weapons).

Anti-prohibitionism in the field of drugs and drug trafficking
Anti- drug legislation did not attract the attention of anti-prohibitionists until hemp was classified as a drug . No one disputed the ban on morphine and cocaine , but many started from cannabis, starting with New York Mayor La Guardia and Baroness Wooton and ending with the young radicals of the 1990s (see Cannabis Parade ). The struggle for the legalization of marijuana has led to the formation of several dozen organizations, the ideology of which is one of the main theses (see Cannabis Legalization League, “Free Radicals”, Transnational Radical Party , NORML , C.I.R.Ts. , “ Green Leaf” ») And often coexists with the requirement of legalization (or decriminalization ) of the turnover of all narcotic and psychotropic substances.
Anti-prohibitionists claim that cannabis does much less harm than fighting it. Hemp is less harmful than legal drugs, alcohol and nicotine ; and, in any case, a smoker of marijuana harms only to himself, while his criminal prosecution, the detection of smuggling and the destruction of crops require huge expenses and cause significant damage to the state budget. The effectiveness of prohibitive measures is low: the "black market" of drugs exists, brings superprofits, and its bosses rarely go to jail. The whole burden of repression in practice falls on ordinary consumers, small traders and those who grow several bushes for personal needs. In addition, a person who buys cannabis from drug dealers has many chances to get acquainted with other intoxicants, including “hard drugs” that cause physical dependence .
By the beginning of the XXI century. “Hemp anti-prohibitionism” has led to the legalization of marijuana in several countries around the world. Among them: the Netherlands , Canada , North Korea [1] , the Czech Republic , some US states, Spain and Portugal . Under his influence, the governments of many EU countries have also taken measures to decriminalize cannabis use and keep small doses. In addition, in most developed countries, restrictions on the cultivation of non- cannabis cultivars have been relaxed and measures have been taken to revive hemp breeding .
