Biography
In 1739 he was taken to the Academy of Sciences , since 1754 he was enrolled in the “gyratory” chamber that existed at the academy, receiving 96 rubles of salary per year.
At first he worked under the supervision of the engraver Ivan Sokolov “prospectuses, historical figures”, and since 1757, after the death of Sokolov, he was an apprentice with G. F. Schmidt , already receiving 200 rubles of salary. Efim mastered the brilliance of the cutter Schmidt in perfection, and his work as a cutter is not inferior to the works of Sokolov, but he did not have a good picture. Under the supervision of Schmidt, Vinogradov in 1757 engraved a beautiful portrait of Catherine II , then Grand Duchess, from the original Rotary , and a portrait of Prince Antioch Dmitrievich Kantemir from Amigoni .
In 1760, together with Grekov, he executed a very rare engraving from the Pompeii painting “The Triumph of Venus”, found during excavations of Herculaneum and donated by Prince Vorontsov to Grand Duke Pyotr Feodorovich , and in 1761 a portrait of the Georgian Prince Teymuraz Nikolaevich. The well-preserved plaques of Vinogradov’s works, available at the Academy of Arts , at the end of the 19th century gave still very clear impressions.
In 1765, Vinogradov was still listed in the registers of the Academy of Sciences and died, probably, around this time.
