Education and career
Simon studied at the Paris Mining School , 1984 edition. After studying, he immediately began working in the Renault racing team, where he worked for four years. Then, in 1988, Peugeot was hired and worked on a V10 racing engine, which the company used on its sports cars and with which it was successful at Le Mans in 1992 and 1993.
In 1994, following Jean Todt, he transferred to Ferrari, where he works in the engine department under the direction of Paolo Martinelli . After the rise of Martinelli , in October 2006 he became the main minder. He left this post in October 2009, he was invited to replace Luca Marmorini.
In December 2009, on the recommendation of FIA President Jean Todt to join the working group to research new types of energy and environmentally friendly technologies in motorsport.
In July 2011, Simon left his post at the FIA to join the company PURE (Propulsion Universelle et Récuperation d'Énergie), which intended in 2014 to become a new supplier of engines for Formula 1.
In 2013, he became a Honda engine consultant for the Formula 1 World Championship. He broke up with the Japanese brand in 2017.
