Karakuduk is an oil field located in the Mangistau region of the Republic of Kazakhstan , 160 km south-west of the regional center of Beineu .

The field was discovered in 1971.

The oils are light, highly paraffinic (4.2-22.3%), low-sulfur (0.03-0.49%), with low acidity. Oil in Middle Jurassic sediments is lighter (density 807.8 kg / m³) than in the Upper Jurassic ( density 866 kg / m³).

Horizon production rates range from 25.3 m³ / day. up to 153 m³ / day.

In 2007, oil production at the field will increase by 40% compared to 2006 (while reducing cost) and will exceed 1 million tons.

The operating company is KarakudukMunai (Caspian Investment Resources Ltd joint venture on a parity basis between Chinese Sinopec and Indian Mittal Investments).
