1899 in the history of railway transport

• January - the line Krasnoyarsk - Irkutsk (1018 miles) was opened.

• March 28 - the first train passed the new railway bridge across the Yenisei River . In 1900, this building, along with the Eiffel Tower, was awarded the Grand Prix and the gold medal of the World Exhibition in Paris - "For architectural excellence and excellent technical performance."
• May - Olita - Grodno (184 versts) lines were opened, Samarkand - connection with the Tashkent railway (331 versts), Chernyaevo - Andijan (305 versts).
• July - the Tikhoretskaya - Tsaritsyn line (500 miles) was opened.
• August - the Rudnitsa - Olviopol line (183 versts) was opened.
• October - Moscow - Bryansk (354 versts) lines were opened, Tumskaya - Ryazan (85 versts, now dismantled).
• November - the Perm - Vyatka - Kotlas line was opened (812 miles).
• December - lines Dankov - Smolensk (498 miles), Tiflis - Kars (278 miles) were opened.
• The construction of the Circum-Baikal Railway has begun .

• In Korea , the first railway line Incheon ( Chemulpo ) - Norianichzhin was built with a length of more than 33 kilometers. ^[one]
