Content
Geographical position
The village is located on the Smolensk Upland in the eastern part of the Smolensk region, on the southeastern outskirts of the city of Vyazma . The distance to the regional center - the city of Smolensk ~ 175 km.
History
The village arose as a small settlement at the Vyazma-Bryansk railway station in 1930. The construction of the Vyazma - Bryansk railway began in the spring of 1929. It was the shortest route from the northwestern regions of the USSR to the south of the country. The progress of the construction of the grand construction at that time was widely covered in the Soviet press of the 1920-1930s.
During the Great Patriotic War, the village and the station were almost completely destroyed. In 1941-1943 there were heavy fighting.
In 2004, the village was transformed into a village [1] .
April 29, 2011 the village of Gorodok is included in the village of Vyazma-Bryansk [2] .
