Biography
Born on October 28, 1923 in the city of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg ) in a working class family. Jew . Member of the CPSU since 1942 . He graduated from 10 classes. He entered the 2nd Leningrad Artillery School.
In the Red Army since July 1941 . He participated in battles near the Red Village, where the cadet units restrained the Nazi attack on Leningrad.
After the school was evacuated to the Urals, Halperin passed accelerated artillery courses and was sent to Moscow, then went to the North-Western Front, where he received the rank of senior lieutenant and command of the cannon battery.
In mid-January 1944, an artillery regiment, in which senior lieutenant Halperin commanded a cannon battery, participated in the attack on Novorzhev - Staraya Russa 's German positions.
On January 17, 1944, units of the 208th Infantry Division occupied the first trench of German fortifications near the village of Zabolotye, Novosokolnichesky District, Pskov Region. The second line was about 150 meters. The next day, January 18, 1944 Halperin was sent to an observation post in the infantry fighting formations to control artillery support. After fierce battles, German troops surrounded the position of the artillery NP, which left fifteen artillerymen and the commander of the artillery battalion, Major A. T. Yakovlev, who led the defense of the NP.
After the fourth attack on the NP, only six fighters remained, led by Halperin. Senior sergeant Sutormin quickly restored a broken connection with the artillery division. The fifth attack was repelled by grenades, after which, however, the NP was surrounded. In the ensuing hand-to-hand fight, three Red Army men were killed, Halperin gave the command over the phone: "I call fire on myself." The attack was repelled, the position was saved, up to three companies of German troops were destroyed. The wounded Halperin was sent to the hospital.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 4, 1944, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and courage and heroism shown to this, Lieutenant Anatoly Vladimirovich Halperin was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal The Star ”(No. 3876).
The wounds received did not allow the fighter to take part in the battles again. After the war in 1948, A.V. Halperin graduated from the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Military Artillery Engineering Academy. He retired with the rank of colonel . He lived in Moscow. He worked in the apparatus of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR. He died on January 19, 1966 . He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery.
