Vitas (singer)

Born on February 19, 1979 in Daugavpils (Latvian SSR). Soon his family moved to Odessa , where his grandfather lived. He graduated from school number 60 in Odessa ^[3] . For three years he studied at the music school number 3 in the accordion class. He worked in the theater of plastic and voice parody. As a child, he mastered the movements of Michael Jackson .

He arrived in Moscow after 9 classes, where he received his education, achieved his first career successes and lived a significant period of his life. He released the opera number 2 clip, worked on TV-6 , met in Odessa with Sergey Pudovkin , who later became its producer . Vitas's solo musical career began in December 2000, his unusual manner of performing falsetto - a high head register aroused the interest of the public and brought popularity.

After Vitas debuted on the Russian stage, many listeners, experts and music educators had a question, what is the secret of his amazing falsetto ^[4] and how can a man sing in such a high voice that Vitas sounds in the composition “Opera No. 2”. The audience was also worried about why the artist did not sing in the chest register. Producer Sergey Pudovkin explained that Vitas’s extraordinary abilities are associated with a special throat arrangement. However, Elena Kirashvili, associate professor of the vocal department at Moscow Pedagogical University, noted that Vitas performs not so much singing as recitative on low and medium notes. According to the expert, this is typical for performers who do not professionally engage in vocals ^[5] .

Vitas was originally conceived as a project that shocked the audience, but not with vocal data, but with the general situation that is being pumped around him. The main role here is played by media support. And I would put Vitas’s vocal data in second place.

In 2002 Vitas and Pudovkin, at the request of the World League Council “Mind Without Drugs,” joined the board of trustees of the league and became its honorary members.

In 2009, Vitas was awarded the title of People's Artist of China ^{[7] [8]} .

According to data for 2013, Vitas during his career has done several solo programs and traveled with them dozens of countries around the world. The singer also starred in the movie " Mulan " (production of China) ^[10] . The official Vitas fan club in China has more than 1 million people, a statue in honor of him has been erected in Shanghai ^[11] .

He performed duets with such singers as Nikolai Gnatyuk (the song “Bird of Happiness”), Demis Roussos , Lucio Dalla and with his grandfather on the father A. D. Marantsman, with whom he sang the song “Friendship” ^[12] .

Vitas is a citizen of Ukraine, registered at his place of residence in Odessa ^{[2] [13]} . Lives in the suburbs, in a mansion on the Rublevskoe highway ^{[14] [15]} .

Vitas is also known in Russia for a number of resonant incidents, following the results of the investigation of which he was brought to criminal and administrative responsibility. So in 2003 a criminal case was instituted against him under part 4 of Art. 222 of the Criminal Code (illegal sale of weapons). Then, according to the prosecutor, the case against Grachev was closed in connection with his active repentance ^{[16] [17]} .

Accident May 10, 2013

On May 10, 2013 in Moscow, Grachev hit a cyclist Olga Kholodova in his car near the All-Russian Exhibition Center ^{[13] [18] [19] [20] [21]} The singer, delivered to the police department, handed over to the police officers a mock -up of Makarov’s pistol ^[20] . After the incident, a video was made public, which shows how Vitas kicks one of the policemen, and he hears how he obscenely insults the operatives ^[22] . During the investigation, it turned out that back in 2007, by a court order, Grachev was deprived of the right to drive a car for 23 months for drunk driving ^{[22] [23]} . In 2008, Grachev, being a citizen of Ukraine, received a new driver’s license of this state, but again violated the rules of the road - he went into the oncoming lane ^[24] . May 27 for refusing to undergo a medical examination in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 12.26 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation Grachev by the decision of the magistrate of the judicial section No. 414 of the Ostankino district of Moscow was deprived of a driver's license for 1.5 years ^[23] . On July 18, Grachev was finally charged: the use of violence against a government official. During the investigation, Grachev fully admitted his guilt and collaborated with the investigation ^[25] . On August 26, 2013, the Ostankino court of Moscow found the singer guilty of an offense under Art. 318 of the Criminal Code, and sentenced him to a fine of one hundred thousand rubles for the episode with a hit by a police officer ^[26] .

March 21, 2018 shooting

On March 21, 2018, Grachev fired a starting pistol in the courtyard of his house on Rublevka . The shots continued for five hours and caused concern among neighbors. Arriving police officers Vitas refused to open the door, continuing firing. As a result, the police broke open the door and took the singer to the police department, where an administrative protocol was drawn up on him. Grachev refused to undergo a test for intoxication. Upon examination of his site, 45 shells, four cartridges and a signal pistol were found. According to the singer’s neighbors, this is not the first such shooting that he arranged in his yard ^{[14] [27] [28]} .

On March 27, 2018, the Odintsovo City Court appointed Gracheva under Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (petty hooliganism) for seven days of arrest, which he served in the Istra special detention center, previously he was fined 500 rubles ^{[29] [30]} .
