Madagascar pitta [1] , or filepitta [2] ( lat. Philepittidae ) - a family of passerine birds .

Includes 4 species of small birds living in the forests of Madagascar . Body length 9 - 16.5 cm. Two species belong to the genus Philepitta - chubby, with strong legs, eat fruits and berries. The second genus - Neodrepanis has a brilliant blue plumage with yellow breasts and abdomen, with large spots around the eyes that are absent in females. These birds move slowly from branch to branch in search of insects. Sometimes they drink nectar from flowers with a whisk in the form of a bell.
