Cord, Kazimierz

Kazimierz Kord ( Polish. Kazimierz Kord ; genus. November 18, 1930 ) - Polish conductor .

He graduated from the Lyceum of Music in Katowice and the Leningrad Conservatory ( 1955 ) as a pianist.

In 1962 - 1969 Head of the Krakow Musical Theater, in which he performed about 30 premieres. In 1969 - 1973 led the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice . In 1977 - 2001 musical director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra , simultaneously in 1980 - 1986 . He headed the Orchestra of the South-West Radio of Germany , and in 1989 - 1990 . as the main guest conductor, he actually led (in the absence of the main conductor) the Pacific Symphony Orchestra in California. He staged Tchaikovsky 's Queen of Spades opera ( 1973 , for the first time in the USA in Russian) and Verdi 's Aida ( 1976 ) at the Metropolitan Opera .
