Biography
French commander. He inherited the county of E after the death of his father (in 1302 ), and the county of Gin after the death of his mother.
In 1329, he was appointed king of France by King Philip VI . Since 1331, the governor of the region on the border with Flanders and Hainaut , since 1337 - the governor of Languedoc . To suppress the rebellion that swept Burgh and Bleu, he was sent by the king to Guyenne , bringing the rebellious provinces to obey the French crown.
He commanded troops in Italy , where he fought on the side of the Czech king Johann (Jan) the Blind .
Killed in 1344 at a tournament.
