Names
- Since 1895, the street has been called Parkgasse (Russian: "Parkovaya") - as it passed by the wooded area of the current culture park named after Bogdan Khmelnitsky ;
- since 1901 - Kadetskaya street (floor: "Kadecka"), since the street led to the School of Cadets (now the Academy of Ground Forces named after the hetman Pyotr Sagaidachny );
- since 1938, part of the street was called Peowyakow in honor of the Polish paramilitary organization (POW - Polska Organizacja Wojskowa), which took part in the Ukrainian-Polish war of 1918-1919 ;
- from January 1941 - Ernst Thalmann Street in honor of the German Communist;
- since the summer of 1941 (during the occupation of Lviv by German troops) - Beskidenstrasse , in honor of the Beskydy mountain range in the Carpathians;
- since 1944 - Guards Street;
- April 10, 2014 - Heroes of Maidan Street got its current name.
Noteworthy buildings and structures
- In house number 6, at that time owned by Hippolytus Slivinsky in 1908 - 1914 with his headquarters was Jozef Pilsudski , a Polish political and military leader. In memory of this, a memorial tablet was installed.
- House number 8 is a profitable house in the style of rational Art Nouveau with stylized medieval elements of Zbigniew Brochwich-Levinsky (1906-1907).
- In the house number 18 in 1944 - 1949 lived the Ukrainian writer Yaroslav Galan ; here, in his office, he was killed by a member of the Ukrainian nationalist underground. In Soviet times, the literary and memorial museum of Galan was arranged in the writer's former apartment, which in the 1990s was reorganized into the Literary Lions of the First Half of the 20th Century museum. A memorial tablet in memory of Yaroslav Galan has been preserved on the building.
- No. 32 occupies a complex of buildings of one of the higher military educational institutions of modern Ukraine - the Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sagaidachny . There was a Cadet School here in the Austrian and Polish periods, and in Soviet times, the Lviv Higher Military-Political School of the Order of the Red Star and the Order of the Red Star of Czechoslovakia.
- In the upper part of the street from its odd side, at the intersection with Stryiskaya Street, there is the Monument of Glory of the Armed Forces of the USSR .
