Biography

Brad Barron Renfro was born July 25, 1982 in the small American city of Knoxville , Tennessee .

At the age of ten, the boy was noticed by Hollywood casting director Malie Finn, who invited him to audition for Joel Schumacher's project. Despite the lack of acting experience, Renfro was approved for the lead role in the criminal thriller “ Client ” ( 1994 ), where his partners were American movie stars of the first magnitude Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones . In this film, Brad Renfro played a boy who witnesses the suicide of a Mafia lawyer, after which the FBI and the criminals begin to hunt for him at the same time. Renfro's debut work in the Schumacher film was met with approval by critics and brought the young actor public recognition. New offers were not long in coming. In 1995, two tapes with Renfro participated in the screens - the piercing drama “The Cure ” about the friendship of rogue boys and the family film “ Tom and Huck ” based on the novel by Mark Twain “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”.

One of the pinnacles of Brad Renfro's career was the role of American schoolchild Todd Bowden in Brian Singer's " Capable Student " ( 1998 ). In the picture, based on the story of Stephen King , the actor played a young man whose passion for the history of the Third Reich brings him to the trail of a Nazi criminal hiding from justice. The film about the strange relationship between a curious teenager and a runaway SS officer performed by the illustrious Briton Sir Ian McKellen has become the subject of much debate. In general, the tape was well received by critics, however, this did not affect its box office, which amounted to a modest amount of $ 9 million. For the role of Todd Bowden, Brad Renfro received a prize at the Tokyo International Film Festival . Shortly before the release of the film “Apt Pupil”, the young performer had the first problems with the law - the actor was detained on suspicion of possession of cocaine and marijuana .

Renfro has a son (born 2003).

On January 15, 2008, the actor’s body was discovered in his own home in Los Angeles . The evening on the eve of his death, Brad Renfro spent in the company of friends.
