An important (by local standards) transport hub, located 188 kilometers from the capital of the republic - Bangui . Here is the end of the asphalt road starting in Bangui. Further, there are two local roads - one north to Kaga Bandoro, and the other east towards Bomini, a thriving village with a population of 450 people, located 12 kilometers from Sibyu. In addition to roads, the city has a small airfield.
The city of Sibyu itself is located on the banks of a small tributary of the Ubanga River (which flows about 150 kilometers to the south), which nonetheless is not navigable even for small craft. The city has one high school and market.
The diet of local residents (including those sold in street cafes) includes cassava with peanut sauce, as well as meat from various wild animals. From alcoholic beverages, local palm wine with a strength of about 33 ° is common.
In 2018, three Russian journalists were killed in the vicinity of Sibyu, including Orkhan Jemal .
