Sputnik is a village within Tomsk .
The population is 2037 people. (2017)
Located near Seversky . It was built in the early 1960s to house the staff of the training nuclear reactor at the Research Institute of Nuclear Physics of Tomsk Polytechnic University .
The village got its name on November 4, 1963, and on December 14, 1964 it officially became part of Tomsk [1] .
Currently, the village has one 5-storey family-type hostel, three 3-storey houses and two 5-storey apartments with comfortable apartments. There are also three private two-story houses and one one-story. Near the village there is a communications tower providing communications for MTS and Rostelecom cellular companies. Not far from the village flows the small river Bolshaya Kirgizka .
