Biography
Born in Mons-en-Barolle , a suburb of Lille . He studied philosophy at the Sorbonne (graduated in 1947 ). He taught in Egypt , Manchester , Thessaloniki , USA , Geneva . Collaborated with the Belgian composer Henri Pousseur .
Creativity
Journalists and critics associate his works with the new novel , but Butor moved away from this trend after the novel “The Degree of Human Kindness”, published in 1960.
The author of several poetry books, collections of essays, many of which are dedicated to artists ( Mondrian , Giacometti , Vieira da Silva , Aleschinsky , etc.).
