Verbier is a ski resort located in Southern Switzerland (the French-speaking part of the Valais canton ) and is part of the 4 Valleys ski area, where more than 400 km of prepared pistes with a single ski lift network. Verbier is located on a sunny terrace, at an altitude of 1,500 m near the peak of Grand Saint Bernard between Matterhorn and Mont Blanc , in the French-speaking part of the Valais canton, the resort is known as the Mecca of Freeride .

History and Geography
The winter resort is located in the mountain valley of Bagnes, from where a magnificent panorama of the alpine massifs and Mont Blanc opens, which received three stars of the Michelin guide [1] . Verbier is located 28 km east of the Swiss Martini, the fourth most populated country in the canton of Valais, and 64 km northeast of the French ski resort of Chamonix . The highest point of the sector is the peak of Mont-Fort ( French Mont-Fort ) 3329 m.
With the opening in 1925 of the station’s first hotel, Verbier begins its history as a ski resort . The first mechanical ski lift appears here in 1947 . Over the years, new lifts are installed and old lifts are modernized, luxury hotels appear next to traditional chalets . Currently, Verbier can compete with the famous French resorts of Courchevel , Val Thorens and Val d'Isere [2] . The World Freeride Championship is held here annually.

The ski area, which combines the ski stations of Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, La Tzoumaz and Thyon, is a relatively new ski area that saw the light with the advent of the Mont-For ski lift Mont-Fort ) in 1983. This is the largest ski area in Switzerland [3] . It consists of more than 400 km of ski slopes , about 100 ski lifts, slopes of varying difficulty, a wide range of routes for skiing , for freeriding , snowparks and freestyle equipment. From Verbier you can ski to La Tzuma station with its ten-kilometer toboggan run.
Nanda offers tourists all kinds of skating, including a snow park for debutants and professionals, snow tubing for children and adults, night skiing in the moonlight [4] .
Tion relies on snowboarding fans, and winter activities such as dog sledding are also available here [5]
Veysonnaz is a winter recreation mountain station located at an altitude of 1,350 m, with a picturesque view of the Rhone Valley and the city of Sion [6] . Here is the famous "Bear Track" (French Piste de l'Ours) - a "black" ski track, created in 1969 for the 1976 Winter Olympics , for the organization of which Sion acted as a candidate city. The track regularly serves for the most prestigious alpine skiing competitions .
Festival
In Verbier, the famous music festival takes place annually in summer.
