From the age of 14 he studied music in Berlin with Karl Mözer . Since 1815, the first violin of the Braunschweig ducal chapel. It is best known as the first violin of the first composition of the Müller Brothers Quartet ( 1831 - 1855 ) - and as the father of four musician sons, who formed the second composition of this quartet: Carla (1829-1907), Hugo (1832-1886), Bernhard (1825-1895 ) and Wilhelm (1834-1897).
