Isère originates in the Graz Alps , on the border with Italy , next to the famous ski resort of Val d'Isere . The river crosses the Savoy Alps in the deep Tarantez valley, in the middle course it flows in the trough valley of Grezivodan . It flows into the Rhone in the town of Pont de Isere , a few kilometers north of Valence .
The river food is mixed snow and rain, typical summer flood .
On the river and its tributaries - reservoirs and hydroelectric power stations. The river is navigable 155 km above the mouth. On Isere are the cities of Albertville , Grenoble .
In honor of Iser, the asteroid (364) Isar , discovered in 1893, is named.
