Patrow - an apostle from seventy . It is mentioned in the message of the apostle Paul to the Romans : “Salute Asyncritus, Phlegont, Hermas, Patrov, Hermias, and other brothers with them” ( Rom. 16:14 ).
In addition to the name of Patrov, the New Testament books no longer contain any information. He was probably one of the prominent members of the Roman Church, having once received a greeting from the Apostle Paul . In the Four Mineas of Dimitry of Rostov, it is reported that he was a bishop in Naples and Puteoli . In the biblical encyclopedia of Archimandrite Nicephorus says:
“Patrov ( Greek Πατροβας - to the father following) is one of the 70 apostles and the most zealous of the companions and employees of the apostle Paul. Tradition says that he was the bishop of Naples and Puteol and took the crown of martyrdom for the name of Christ. "
The memory of the Apostle Patrov in the Orthodox Church takes place on November 18 ( November 5 according to the old style) and January 17 (January 4 according to the old style) on the day of the Council of the Apostles from seventy, in the Catholic Church on November 4 .
In the Orthodox Church there is no separate service to the Apostle Patrov. It is mentioned in the service of the 70 apostles (3rd verse of the 7th song): " Your Apostle Patrov, better, thy carnal coming of man to man, the preaching of the sermon, instructing and enlightening the knowledge of the dawn of faith, erring to knowledge ."
