Biography
He worked as a broker , lived for several years in Rotterdam , in 1905 he moved to The Hague.
At the Games, Khan participated in army pistol shooting competitions. In the solo competition, he took 6th place, gaining 437 points. In the team, his team took third place, winning bronze medals.
In various sources, Han was referred to as van Han ( Dutch van . Han) and van Lan ( Dutch van . Laan ). In the lists of the late Swedish historian Lennart Dahllöf ( Swede. Lennart Dahllöf ) Khan was referred to as Gerardus van Khan ( Dutch. Gerardus van Haan ), whence the name “Gerardus van Khan” appeared in many sports directories [2] . The athlete’s real name remained unknown for a long time, but in 2000, the Dutch researcher Anthony Bakerk, after spending 40 years searching for him, stated that Khan’s real name was Dirk Boest Gips ( Dutch. Dirk Boest Gips ). Bakerk found the name D. Burs Gips ( Dutch: D. Boers Gips ) in a 1900 North Brabant newspaper, which published a list of participants in the "Versailles International Shooting Competition." According to Bakerk, the provincial newspaper mentioned the shooting competition, as one of the Dutch shooters, Antonius Bowens , lived in 1900 in the capital of North Brabant, Hertogenbosch . In the future, Baker was able to clarify and confirm the name "Dirk Boost Gypsum" in other sources. According to Bakerker, at the beginning of the 20th century, arrows often used pseudonyms when they participated in competitions, and the names “Van Khan” and “Van Lang” were just such pseudonyms [3] .
