Station History
The station was opened on October 1, 1863 as part of the first line of the London Metropolitan Railway between Bishops Road and Farringdon Street stations. During the construction of the station, it was called Gower Street, and the station has been given its modern name since 1909 . At the end of 2006, on the south side of Euston Road in the Wellcome Trust building, a new entrance to the station was opened, replacing the older one (shown in the photo).
Station today
Trains on the Koltsevaya , District and Hammersmith and City lines follow the Kings Cross St Pancras station on the same lines. The situation is similar with trains following Great Portland Street Station .
Development Plans
In December 2005, Network rail announced plans to create an underpass between Euston Square Station and Euston Station as part of the reconstruction of the latter. This transition should provide a direct interchange between two stations located on opposite sides of Euston Road, while today the transition from one station to another is possible only on the surface.
