Uddhava

Uddhava ( Uddhava IAST , also known as Ravanayadhi ) is a hero from the Puranic texts of Hinduism , where he is described as a friend and adviser to Krishna . He plays a significant role in the Bhagavata Purana , where Krsna himself teaches him the processes of yoga and bhakti . The basis of these instructions of Krishna, Uddhava is commonly called Uddhava-gita , similar to Bhagavad-gita , where Krishna instructs Arjuna .

According to some scriptures, Uddhava was also a cousin of Krsna, being the son of Devabhaga, the brother of Krsna Vasudeva 's father. Outwardly, Uddhava was so similar to Krsna that he is described as being confused with Krsna.

The Bhagavata Purana describes how, after Krsna's victory over Kamsa , Uddhava came to visit him. Krishna then asked Uddhava to go to Vrindavan and deliver the message to the gopis and other residents of Vrindavan who were suffering from separation from him. The content of this message and the feelings that it aroused in the hearts of the inhabitants of Vrindavan after they heard it, is considered the highest manifestation of love for God in the Gaudiya Vaisnava tradition of Hinduism .
