History
The park was founded in the 1930s during the construction of the KhTZ village. The name received in honor of the famous Soviet poet Vladimir Mayakovsky .
In 1976, a decommissioned AN-10 aircraft was installed in the park, with the tail number of the USSR-11143, which was on the balance sheet of Kharkov OJSC (87 LO). For installation, it was transported in parts along Gagarin Avenue. In the airplane, a game complex was created from several halls of slot machines. After the fire in 1997, it was sawn into metal.
For a long time did not receive proper care. By the beginning of the 20th century, the park fell into complete decline.
On January 12, 2011 at a meeting of the extraordinary session of the Kharkiv City Council, it was decided to create a communal enterprise “Park of Culture and Rest named after Mayakovsky "with the goal of developing the green mass in the Ordzhonikidze district [1] .
