Ajmer ( English Ajmer , Hindi , Urdu اجمیر ) is a city in the central part of the Indian state of Rajasthan , the administrative center of Ajmer County. Also known as Agamera .

Content
History
The city gave its name to the district and province of British India, called Ajmer-Mervara , which, after India’s independence, was transformed into the state of Ajmer . On November 1, 1956, this state was incorporated into the state of Rajasthan .
Geography and climate
Ajmer is located 135 km west of Jaipur , 274 km north-east of Udaipur , 439 km east of Jaisalmer and 391 km south-west of Delhi , at an altitude of 471 m above sea level [3] . The city is located on the hill of Taragarh in the area of the Aravali mountain range and is protected from the Tar desert by the mountain mass of Nagpatkhar. In the north of the city there is a large artificial lake Anasagar.
The climate of Ajmer is dry; Annual rainfall is about 606 mm. Almost all of these precipitations fall during the monsoon season, from June to September. The hottest months are from April to early July, with average daily temperatures around 30 ° C. The winter months, from November to February, have a rather mild climate, with average temperatures of 15–18 ° C.

Economy and Transport
In the city there are factories for the production of woolen goods, soap, shoes, knitwear, as well as a pharmaceutical factory. Located 18 miles northwest of Ajmer, Kishangarh is one of India’s largest centers for the extraction and processing of marble.
An important railway junction. Connected to neighboring major cities by good roads. The nearest airport is in Jaipur; Ajmer is expected to build its own airport.
