Biography
Born in a military family. In 1973 - 1979 he studied at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute , in which he received his first creative education, joining the Eighth Creative Association MEPhI. He was a screenwriter, director, and released the Samizdat collection “Yellow Press”.
After graduating from the institute, V. Shambarov submitted to the military commissariat a declaration of desire to enlist as an officer and a year later he was drafted into the Soviet Army. He served as a test engineer in the 8th Air Force Research Institute named after V.P. Chkalov , participated in tests of aircraft and aviation weapons. [2] He also received higher political education in the party education system, specializing in International Relations and Foreign Policy.
In 1991, he became seriously ill, as a result of which he was half-paralyzed in 1993 [2] According to his own words, he was cured by 1999 after the adoption of Orthodox baptism [2] .
Even during his service in 1990 , he began to publish in periodicals, which in connection with the disease became his main occupation. [2] He earned money by collaborating with two dozen newspapers and magazines, mailing products of different genres - humor, stories, essays, articles. His fame was published in 1996 by the Belogvardeyshchina book, since this work represents the full history of the White Movement on all fronts of the Civil War in Russia and is actively used by professional historians in scientific works and research as a reliable and reliable source [3] [6 ] [6 ] ] [4] [5] [8] , is on the list of literature recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation on the topic " Civil War in Russia " [9] .
Troops foreman of the Cossack Special Forces named after St. Alexander Nevsky.
In 2005 he was admitted to the Union of Writers of Russia and the International Community of Writers' Unions .
He has a number of government awards and eight certificates for inventions. Candidate of Technical Sciences [2] .
Views
Orthodox [2] . Fundamentally non-partisan and in his political views - a monarchist [10] . In May 2004, in an interview with Literary Newspaper titled “ Liberalism Can't Be Triumphant Nowhere and Never,” Shambarov expressed the view that “a liberal idea is doomed in a historical perspective,” because in his opinion, selfishness, irresponsibility, and a focus on decision are inherent in liberalism only momentary problems, neglect of the strategic interests of the state [1] [11] .
In the book “The Truth of Barbarian Rus”, he claimed that he showed great interest in those periods of Russian history, where, in his opinion, “false stamps had formed”: World War I , XVII century, pre-Petrine Russia . Regarding the latter, she believes that it is customary to " portray hopelessly backward, and the facts say that the XVII century was a period of maximum energy, brilliant prosperity and the greatest successes of our country ." Touching on the issue of historical research there, being a physicist by education , he writes that “the humanist learns ready-made opinions and conclusions that he is guided by,” while “the physicist is used to trusting only facts”: ““ A “should follow from“ B "And confirmed by" C ". If this is not the case, the problem is solved incorrectly. The same applies to history. ” Hence, Shambarov, using the technical equipment of the Russian Imperial Army as an example, believes that if numerous "" authoritative sources "" claim that by the beginning of World War I it was "technically backward compared to the Western ones, the humanist calmly rewrites this conclusion and gives a link", then while “a physicist checks facts, figures, and when it turns out that the equipment with artillery, machine guns, airplanes, cars was higher than in the armies of France and England, and tactics are much more perfect than in Germany, they reject d about backwardness ”and immediately asks itself the question:“ when, who and why did you need to slander Russia? ”In“ faith in facts, not estimates ”, Shambarov sees the whole essence of his method, believing that“ ready-made estimates, rewritten from one work in another, they can be erroneous, opportunistic, slanderous, and in the aggregate they add up to stable "historical cliches". ” [2]
Reviews
Positive
In a review of literary critic L. V. Pirogov from Nezavisimaya Gazeta , it was noted: “Valery Shambarov’s books <...> are read voraciously, like a thriller, like an exciting novel with a sequel ... One of the main advantages of Valery Shambarov’s historical dilogy is that the history of Russia appears here before us as an integral part of world and European history ” [2] .
The journalist of Literaturnaya Gazeta N. Ayrapetova wrote about Shambarov’s work: “Today, few are capable of possessing such a vision of the past and the present, avoiding vulgar and artificial stretch. This skill does not depend on scientific titles or officially declared methodology: it either exists from nature or does not exist, and in the latter case, no titles will help ” [12] .
Critical
During his creative activity, Shambarov was criticized by professional historians.
Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor E. B. Zabolotny and Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Theory and History of International Relations of the Ural Federal University, Director of the Center for the Study of Contemporary Radicalism and Extremism of the Ural Federal University V. D. Kamynin : [13]
If the historiographer tries to realize the desire of A. G. Emanov to turn to “ oral history tools, interviewing contemporaries, direct participants and witnesses of the historiographic process” and consider all this as historiographic sources , his works will not relate to the scientific genre, but to the most popular genre of folk history , in which G.V. Nosovsky , A.T. Fomenko , S. Valyansky , D. Kalyuzhny , V. Shambarov, E. Radzinsky and many other authors write about our history.
Candidate of historical sciences T.N. Shevyakov in his interview to the newspaper “ Arguments and Facts ” pointed out that the time of the Civil War in Russia is an extremely mythologized and plainly unexplored period, the idea of which is mainly based on the feature films “The Elusive Avengers ” and “ Chapaev, ” and also noted that he “was saddened by the number of frank marginals from history trying to impose an absolutely fantastic picture of that era.” The scientist cites Shambarov as an example, believing that his position on the specified historical period is “ridiculous and harmful” and consists in opposing two forces - “noble highly spiritual“ white knighthood “” and “lousy hordes of“ red-bellied goblins “”. [fourteen]
The historian A. R. Dyukov, in an article on the website of the discussion youth club “DIALOGOS” at the Russian State Children's Library, considers Shambarov’s work as journalism “biased and inadequate” [15] .
ResearcherA. A. Poroshin notes a number of mistakes made by Shambarov in the book “For Faith, Tsar and Fatherland”: General M.V. Alekseev , without graduating from the cadet school, went to the Russian-Turkish war with the rank of ensign (in fact, he graduated and fought in the rank of Junker belt ); received the post of company commander after 11 years of service due to an incomplete military education at the cadet school (in fact, due to the lack of high patrons ); during the same war he was awarded the Order of St. George of the 4th degree (in fact, during the First World War - September 6, 1914); after graduating from the Academy of the General Staff, he was left as a teacher in it (in fact, he was appointed senior adjutant of the headquarters of the 1st AK, and at the academy and school he taught much later and part-time, which was usual for officers who graduated from the specified academy and were assigned to it) . [16] .
The historian E. N. Yakovlev, in the program “ Intelligence Interrogation, ” critically examined the book of V. E. Shambarov and E. N. Chavchavadze, “Revolution: a trap for Russia,” written by them on the basis of the documentary of the same name, indicating the authors use a number of dubious sources, as well as the mistakes they made in the presentation of historical facts [17] .
