Jah Republic

The Republic of Jah (Jah Republic) is a Russian musical group . All project participants are highly professional musicians for whom reggae music and Rastafarianism are a way of life. The creativity of the "Republic of Jah" in Russia is unique. The style of the band can be defined as lyrics reggae. There was simply no such concept in Russia (There was a “Committee for the Protection of Heat”), and not only in Russia, this reggae trend is poorly developed in the world. So the style of the group was classified in Jamaica , very accurately expressing the essence. Songs of the “Republic of Ja” have always been distinguished by strong and ideological lyrics .

The ideologist and creative basis of the group - Jacobo Manteki , is one of the most prominent poets in the field of reggae music in Russia ^{[1] [2]} , is widely known as the author of tests of songs “Money is an invented method of deception” and “Cockeiro”, which are already more than 10 years do not lose their relevance in the performance of Markscheider Kunst , V.P.R. and Two Lions , as well as songs in their own performance, probably the most popular of which are “Marijuana is the Gun of Jah” and “Our roots are our wings, our wings are Sensemiglia”, “Sugar of Cuba”.

Republic of Jah released their first album , Philosophy (Philosophy), in 1999. Like any solid undertaking, we started with philosophy - the album included the compositions “Philosophy of Legalization” (Philosophy of Legalization), “Philosophy of Poetry” (Philosophy of Poetry), “Philosophy of Life” (Philosophy of Life), which became the defining foundation of the group’s creativity - these songs tell about simple but deep truths that Rastafari carries.

Currently there are 2 more albums “Republic of Jah” - “BUY, SELL, GIVE - DO NOT!” (To buy, to sell, to share - all these are prohibited!), Released in 2001, and “Dedicated to JAH RASTAFARI SELASSIE I ”(Livicate to JAH RASTAFARI SELASSIE I), published in 2003.

In early 2008, Jacobo Manteki's first solo album was released. The album is called “Taboo”, this is a very unexpected work for Jacobo, as the album is designed in the style of a dub poetry, and is a radio show to the music of dub .

“Republic Jah” is famous for its lyrics, many of Jacques’s words have become common nouns. But “Republic” is still not only texts, but also high-quality sound. Songs of the "Republic of Jah" today can be heard on the air of radio stations not only in Russia, but also in America, Trinidad, and, of course, Jamaica.

In addition, Jacques is one of the founders of the "Workshop of incompetent poets."
