Geography

Administratively refers to the Ordzhonikidze district . It is located in the northern part of the city, separated from it from the south by the Uralmash plant , in whose honor it was named. Conventionally, it can be limited to the streets: Machine builders in the south, Cosmonauts in the east, Baku Commissars and Donbass in the north and northwest. Beyond the borders of the last two streets, there is an extensive private sector, which smoothly passes into the forest park zone.

Population

Uralmash is home to a large part of the population of the Ordzhonikidze district. The total number is over 200 thousand people .

History

Abandoned White Tower UZTM - one of the symbols of the Uralmash district

In the summer of 1926, at the site of the future UZTM , the first dugouts of workers were dug. The village of the builders of the plant until 1928 consisted of undeveloped barracks . In fact, they were ordinary sheds with furnace heating and bunks. In 1928, Pyotr Oransky headed the design office for a new residential area. The project of the so-called social city provided for the location of the housing estate north of the plant. And this is no coincidence: the prevailing winds are western and north-western, so the residential area suffers little from harmful industrial emissions into the atmosphere. In 1928, construction began on two-story wooden residential buildings in the area of future streets of Kirovgrad , Krasniy Borts , and the Ural Workers . By November 1930, several 4-story brick houses were erected on Ilyich Street. Novosyolov was especially pleased with the central heating, rare for those times, and the baths, which were very rare.

In the early 30s, Ilyich Street was considered the most privileged - factory managers, regional authorities, engineers, foreign specialists (mainly from Germany) lived here. In those days, they only knew how to lay walls in the summer, and it took almost two years to build a house. But they dealt with the problem very quickly - they decided to build the so-called "frame-filling" houses. The frame of such two- and three-story houses was made of thick timber, and the walls were made of double wooden shields, between which sawdust and lime were poured. They dragged the sewer and water supply, but the heating was stove. Very quickly whole blocks of buildings were built up with frame houses - part of Molotov Street (now the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution ), the whole street of Industry , Stakhanovskaya . According to calculations, frame houses should have stood for 20 years, in fact, back in 2010, people lived in them.

In the mid-30s, construction began in a quadrangle between the streets of Culture , Krasny Partizan , Bannikova and Ordzhonikidze . Many residents of this quarter moved here from Ilyich Street, so the name “noble nest” was firmly entrenched in the people of the quarter. For landscaping the streets of the social city from the Volga region, wagons of ash , linden , maples , oaks , and ornamental shrubs were carried in wagons.

September 20, 1933 the village of Uralmashzavod named after Ordzhonikidze became part of the city of Sverdlovsk [2] .

Infrastructure

Transport

Public transport is represented by buses , trolleybuses and trams , which provide both the external connection of Uralmash with the city center and with the districts of Elmash , New Sorting , VIZ , as well as internal with residential areas of the district. An important role is also played by the metro ( metro station Uralmash , Kosmonavtov Prospect ), launched here in 1991, which provides communication between residents of the district and the railway station, center and south of the city.

Education

RSPPU

The area has many large schools, hospitals, kindergartens, vocational schools and universities - the Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University .

Sport

The following sports organizations are located on the territory of the district: Uralmash Sports Complex , Sports School No. 19 of the Olympic Reserve, Children's Stadium, Arena Sports and Fitness Center

In the winter season, a ski base on the street. Baku Commissars, 13, located next to the forest.

Leisure and recreation

From leisure enterprises can distinguish a recreation center named after Lavrova, the Palace of Culture of Uralmashzavod, the Znamya cinema and the now demolished Temp cinema.

Until recently, the Uralmash PKiO - Summer Park, which was popular until the beginning of the 21st century , was in an abandoned state. In June 2010, the park was cleaned, the car park was removed, benches and litter bins were installed on walking alleys, and a summer cafe appeared. In May 2012, the reconstruction of the park continued: a new fence was built, several attractions were installed, 24-hour security was provided.

In the west of the district is located Shuvakishsky forest park ("Victory Park"), located in the forest.

Religion

Church of the Nativity

In the microdistrict various religious denominations are represented. However, in general, according to statistics, the Orthodox population predominates. Only 4 Orthodox churches, the largest - the Church of the Nativity of Christ , founded in 1996. The temple contains particles of the relics of more than 40 saints.

There are also 2 churches in former kindergartens and a church in the Northern Cemetery.

Ecology

The decline in production in recent years, as well as some environmental measures, make life in the area more environmentally friendly.

To the north-west of the region there is a large forest - Shuvakishsky forest park, and a little north - Victory Park - the favorite resting places of the Uralmash residents. There is also the once purest Shuvakish lake, now turned into a swamp by anthropogenic impact.

Crime Scene

The area back in the 1990s was often called [ who? ] "The criminal capital of Russia." This is due to the emergence of the large Uralmash organized crime group , which took control of almost the entire city and region from the beginning of 1992 until the end of 2005. This was also facilitated by the general rampant crime associated with the difficult financial situation of the inhabitants, which began after the collapse of the USSR . According to the police department reports in the Ordzhonikidze district :

In early 2005, Uralmash was recognized as the most dangerous territory of the city of Yekaterinburg. In 2004, more than ten thousand crimes were committed there, that is, a fifth of all unlawful acts recorded during the year in the capital of the Urals.

Since 2005, the situation has improved slightly and stabilized, but it is too early to talk about a sharp decline in crime.
