Sheryl Lee ( born Sheryl Lee , born April 22, 1967) is an American actress who starred primarily in independent cinema , best known for her role as Laura Palmer in the 1990s cult television series Twin Peaks .

Biography
Cheryl Lee was born on April 22, 1967 in the city of Augsburg ( Bavaria , Germany ) [1] in the family of an artist and architect. Her younger sister is a piano teacher.
Cheryl childhood passed in the city of Boulder ( Colorado , USA ). As a child, she dreamed of becoming a dancer, but she had to leave dancing classes due to several injuries and operations. At the age of fifteen, she played in the school production of the play " Bad Seed " ( Eng. "The Bad Seed" ). In 1985, after graduating from Fairview High School, she entered the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena . Then Cheryl moved to Seattle , where he began working in the theater and after some time met with the director David Lynch . In 1989 he moved to Los Angeles .
Cheryl is married to musician Jesse Diamond, and she and her husband raise their son Elijah (Elijah was born on May 2, 2000).
Career
A film debut for Cheryl took place in 1990 with a cameo in the comedy directed by Lawrence Kasdan, " I Love You to Death ." The name Cheryl was not even mentioned in the credits.
In the same year, David Lynch invited her to play Laura Palmer in the pilot series of the television series Twin Peaks . Also, especially for her, David Lynch introduces Maddy Ferguson , the cousin and double of the late Laura Palmer, into the script of the new character. Two years later, Cheryl returns to his heroine Laura Palmer in the prequel " Twin Peaks: Through the Fire Come With Me ."
One of Cheryl's prominent roles was the role of the famous female photographer Astrid Kirchgerr in the biographical film Fifth in a Quartet ( 1994 ) about the early period of The Beatles .
